Buzz coming from the back of my Deliverance 4x12 cabinet

Hey, I’m experiencing some buzz coming from the back of my Deliverance 4x12 cabinet.

Model D412-F70G, Serial DG240374.

When playing certain notes, the cabinet is making some buzz coming from the back (specifically - from the center). I’ve tightened every screw there and it got a little better, but some high frequency buzz is still present.

I’ve recorded two videos, please turn the volume up to hear it. This buzz is more audible in person.

What can cause this and what should I do?

Hi Nikita,

I don’t think we’re hearing what you are. This could be due to YouTube compression. We were noticing that you were placing your hand on the back of the cabinet. In the room, does this make a difference to you? Like I said, we can’t actually hear it. There is a possibility you could be hearing the air escape from the jack on the back of the cabinet as well. If you can record a clip of just the audio, maybe we could get a better listen.

Thank You,

Terry

The buzz is present on the video. It’s a high pitched sound, similar to a snare drum wire buzz or electricity buzz. I unscrewed, removed the back panel and put it near the cab, and the annoying buzz is gone. So I’m 100% sure it’s the back panel that’s causing this.

When I push it really hard this buzz is almost gone, but not entirely. I put a finger on the hole from the jack and it did nothing at all.

Hi Nikita,

Please understand we’re not doubting you at all. We just need to watch and listen to your video with better speakers, not with laptop or phone speakers and YouTube compression. That’s all. It’s the reason we asked for just a quick audio clip. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Thanks,

Terry

Quick question, you said you had a chance to take off the jack plate, were any of the jacks, switch, any wiring loose at all when you had it off? If you didn’t check I totally understand. If you do get a chance to check it, while the cab is unplugged, flip the switch a couple of times while the jack plate is off and then check all of the connections to the jack plate and the jacks themselves. You may have done this already.

Thank You,

Terry

I’m not good with electrics (not at all), but visually and to the touch everything held together.

You mean flipping the mono/stereo switch?

Hi Nikita,

Yes, switch it between Mono/Stereo a few times. Just to verify there isn’t something internally there that is rattling around. We were trying to come up with what may be vibrating at that high of a frequency. I was thinking maybe a small piece of something got into one of the jacks, or possibly the internal wiring may be rattling against something.

Is there anyway you can take a few pictures with the panel off the next time you do it? Sorry for all this hassle, that’s just extremely strange. Do you have another speaker cable by any chance you could check it with. I know that sounds strange but I’ve seen stranger. Like little lego person heads jammed into amplifier jacks, oh, and an old fashioned lollipop stick (wood dowel) complete with sticky sugar remnants used as a shunt.

Thanks,

Terry

I clicked the switch multiple times. The cable is new and I don’t have another one unfortunately. I’ll take the cabinet to a guitar tech when I have time so he’ll take a look.
