I’m running a preamp into my PS-100 and I was wondering if there is any way to be able to access the tone shaping switches ( bright, flat, warm, deep etc) since plugging a preamp into the “Amp in” on the PS will not really work at all. I have searched for an answer everywhere and..Here I am!! lol!! Will a Cyclops take care of that?
Hi @kurtsstuff welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately no, those switches have a bit of a special role. They change the reactive load impedance. So really, they are only in-circuit when you use the PS-100 with AMP IN. So Cyclops won’t help either, as it’s line level. But PRES and DEPTH still work.
if you ran the power station in self-attenuation mode wouldn’t you then be able to use those switches? but I don’t know if the self-attenuation mode matches the OP’s use case.
@choalla yup very good point that I missed ![]()
Thank you Dan and choalla!
I was hoping to just use it with a cabinet. The “Self Attenuation” thing got me thinking and yah..that can be dangerous but?..lol! Using that setup would it be possible to also hook a cabinet up using a Y adapter or Y cable from the speaker out?
Yes, it would. If you do that, let us know the speaker impedance; something tells me we would need to figure out the settings properly for that.
I have an 8 ohm cabinet
OK so you would then set PS-100 SPRK OUT impedance to 8 Ohms too. This 8 will be in parallel with your cab’s 8 to give 4 Ohms. So you PS-100 AMP IN impedance should be set to 4.
Thank you Dan!! I really appreciate the help!!
