Analog Cab + Mic - how does it work, actually?

Could you please explain how the Analog Cab + Mic works? The manual is not very helpful.
Lo Mid, Hi Mid, Emphasis, Air/Bite: I can’t hear any difference, as if these knobs didn’t work at all.

Thanks!

Okay found one way to get some sound. I was using the IR out but not the Analog out. So I can basically record 3 sounds simultaneously, direct out, analog out and ir out. That’s pretty neat.
In one of those YT instructional videos, one dude demonstrated analog cab + mic thru a speaker connected to GPDI/IR speaker out…

That’s right. You need to use the Analog out to get the Analog Cab sim, and you have to activate the analog sim switch on the front panel.

Thank you. Can you also shed some light on how the analog cab+mic is implemented? Is the analog cab+mic section basically an eq of some kind?

What is the difference between ‘full range’ and ‘analog cab sim mode’ of analog out?

And what is the difference between ‘analog out’ in full range mode and ‘direct out’?

Thanks!

An analog cab filter is an active equalizer configured to emulate the frequency response of a guitar speaker, for example, a greenback.

The GPDI analog filter generally emulates our speakers. It includes user adjustable controls to cut or boost the frequency ranges that typically differentiate some of the more popular guitar speakers.

The Analog and IR outs are post amplifier signals.

The analog out is full range when the cab filter is turned off so you can run the amp sound directly to a DAW for further processing such as adding IRs from within the DAW.

The direct out is taken right off of the input stage. It is essentially a tube buffered copy of your guitar pickup output. In effect, a built in tube direct box.
