How does GPDI/IR handle impedance matching with the amps that you plug into it? I see in the description that it can be plugged into a cab of any impedance, but is that for the 1 watt amp? I’m used to buying reactive loads with a specific impedance so I’m a little confused. Thanks!
Hi RCA84 and welcome!
There might be a bit of confusion here or just a typo.
It is a 1W amplifier, so you don’t need to worry too much about impedance matching. The main reason for matching impedance is to transfer the maximum amount of power. But at such low power levels, nothing will break if mismatched.
You can connect your amp to the GPDI/IR for the add-a-channel feature. This lets you use the GPDI/IR as a preamp to your existing amp. But that is done using the FX loop and there is no concept of impedance matching there.
Hi RCA,
The GPDI/IR is a recording amplifier with a built in 1 watt power section, full re-amping capabilities, and a direct output with Impulse Response cabinet simulation. It is not a reactive load for a larger amplifier. The PL-IR is what I think you are looking for.

You’ll notice that the PL-IR has an impedance switch on it as well.
Thank You,
Terry
Ah! Now I get it. Thank you Dan and Terry, that clears it up. I’ll take a look at the PL-IR.
