AC15C1/Karma20T and PS100 Power Band

Wasn’t sure which forum so you’ll have to excuse a newb as I get used to the community. First post of not too many I hope.

Currently have two great lower wattage amps that I practice with and gig. The usual challenge, volume adjustment needed. As I’d prefer a 100 over a 2A for the options it affords, I’ll ask here.

At a 100W output I’ll need to protect the speakers (regardless of PS choice). I’m assuming if it’s a 100 the output volume knob will be turned down quite a bit. Like any tube amp would that setting be so low as to not “allow” the PS100’s output tubes to function within their best power band? I just haven’t been able to find much discussion about this aspect of the Power Stations.

As I said I prefer the options available to me on the 100 I just want to be sure I’m not vastly underutilizing the output of the 100 on a 15-20 watt amp.

The PS-100 does have some additional functions that are useful for live situations, such as the high power and the two volume presets.

You are correct, you need to take care not to blow your speakers if they are not designed to cope with 100W. But this is pretty easy with the Power Station, it has true bypass mode, so by toggling between that and operate mode (this uses the PS-100’s tube amp) you can volume match quite easily.

I would not worry too much about running the PS-100 at low volumes; if anything, that will actually help the character of your amp come through.
