I wonder after watching the Fryette Jimmy Dale video. If I have a 100W Marshall do I need to get a 100W PS to make it sound like a 100W Marshall? Or will it still sound like a 100W amp with a 50W PS? Same if I have a 50W Marshall do I need a 50W PS?
Yeah, Steve mentioned that he finds 100W players tend to gravitate to the PS-100.
The PS-2A and the PS-100 share the same reactive load design, so actually your amp will not know if it is connected to the 50W PS-2A or the 100W PS-100. Your amp will still behave the same.
What changes is your playing experience. With the PS-2A you have a 50W tube power amp interacting with the speaker and 100W with the PS-100. So if you really like loud amps, it’s kind of natural that you will gravitate to the PS-100 to keep the same experience.
Personally, I don’t think you need to pair a PS-100 with a 100W amp. There are plenty of players that actually want to play more quietly and choose the PS-2A.
Do you already have a PS-2A or PS-100?
Hi!
Sorry I missed this reply😎
I got a PS2-A and I love it. When I got it I thought that since my amp is a Marshall SLP 100W and if I need to play any louder than 50W I don’t need an attenuator. I also got a Marshall 1987 50W.
Thanks!
