I have moved over to primarily playing bass for a number of years now, and am using an amp that is critical to a particular sound. I’d like to record it direct and use the line out from a power station, but it is over 300 watts. Is it possible to use two, or use it with a second power load, 2 together?
FOR REAL THOUGH - Absolutely nobody makes a 300 watt reactive load, and this seems like a HUGE hole in the market. Bass players need the line out for the PA, and having to use it clean off the front end is annoying when you have an amp sound, or dialed in a tone. I feel like bass players everywhere would LOVE to get their line out at a between the head and cabinet location for FOH, lower volume…
Thank you! This amp is a custom build by Bill Krinard (from Two Rock amps) that is a prototype. The main issue is that it is 200 watts, but because it is designed to overdrive it peaks at double.
I do hear you that if I keep the master down I should be okay? However, it is still a bit freaky as I do not want to hurt the transformer. Nevertheless, I suppose I can try staying low, monitoring it, and staying conservative on the gain…
So, just for clarification; are you saying that doubling up on reactive loads is not recommended, or just should not be necessary? Also, any plans in the works for a higher watt Reactive Load?
Greatly appreciate the feedback, and I do feel a lot better about keeping it a bit lower for now…
