When connecting the Syn-2 to the 2902, what’s the recommended Level switch position? Also, the Voicing switch is described as being for FRFR or guitar cabinets, which position is which?
I have the same question, as I’ve been a Syn2 user for a bit and just got a 2/90/2. Would love to get some feedback on this. Thank you!
Okay. Starting to get acquainted with these forums more. I found in this thread that the voicing switch should be OUT for FRFR applications and potentially IN when using with a guitar cab.
Thanks for the reply, I have seen a few other things that speculated the same thing, I just haven’t seen a definitive answer. I’m guessing you’re right though. Now I just need input on the level switch.
Yeah, anything from @DavidPhelge is definitive. He’s been with Fryette for a long time now.
Regarding the input level switch, I found a post over on TGP that’s not as definitive as you might like (in terms of being specific to the Syn2) but basically says you can’t really mess it up. That post is also from Dave at Fryette.
You cannot overload the 2/90/2 inputs using a hot level such as 0, +4 or +20dB. All you do when you send a hot signal to the power amp is cause the amps volume control to be more sensitive to small settings changes
there is nothing between the 2/90/2 input jack and volume pot that can be overloaded, therefore, no way the sound can change or become more distorted, thinner, etc within the amp itself until the volume is up enough to cause the power tubes to max out
His handle over there is “support”.
This is awesome info, thanks for digging into it. I did find that most guitar preamps output at 0db so most likely the In position is most suitable. Not sure there will be a difference based on what you found.
Thanks again!
That’s helpful - thanks for that - learning together lol ![]()
