1991 Pittbull 100 Classic with 6 Preamp Tubes?

Hi!

Opened up the amp to check the tubes out (was getting some static and loss of bass), went to the Pittbull Classic manual to get the layout and stock recommendations, and I was surprised!

My amp had 5x 12ax7 and 1x 12au7 (as labeled on the back of the amp). The only other amps I could find that had 6x preamp tubes were the Ultralead and the Sig:X. However, those spec a 12at7 instead of the 12au7.

What do I have on my hands, and is there a legacy manual for this model? Thanks!

Does your amp say PITTTBULL ONE HUNDRED on the nameplate in the upper right front corner?

Can you post pics of the front and rear?

Thanks,

Dave

Here are photos of the rear. It 100% says Pittbull Classic on the front.

I’m curious as well. I have the same amp, but a 1992.

I have the same thing, but 1993. Anyone know which tube is the FX loop driver tube? My loop in intermittently dropping volume…

That’s an original Classic head with a two-tube phase inverter and output driver stage. It should be retubed as marked on the rear panel.

Dave

The FX Loop in this amp (all Fryette/VHT amps in fact) is solid state.
Intermittent cutting out us usually FX Return jack oxidation. Contact cleaner is the usual remedy.
