Do I need to send an older PS100 that has the 12AX7 phase inverter tube back to the factory so You can mod the unit for the newer 12DW7 tube, or is that something I can do myself? Thanks in advance!

This is not something the shop typically offers, mods take much longer that repairs and I know they are flat out at the moment.
Dave might comment more, but my take is the 12DW7 will be able to swing a bit more voltage and drive the power tubes with more clean headroom. Most people will not notice the difference unless you need a few dBs of more clean volume. I standby to be corrected!
Modding an earlier PS-100 to use the DW will add a small amount of headroom, but honestly, you have to be running the PS-100 at full clean power in order to be able to tell the difference.
There are two resistors that would need to change value in order for the DW conversion to work.
