Hi Peasrule, Yes, you can select the impedance for each cab you have connected to the speaker cab outs 1-4. No issue with playing the 16 ohm and the 8 ohm cabs simultaneously with one amp, the ZMACS will automatically switch the impedance for the amplifier when both cabs are selected, in this case down to 4 ohms even though the combination of a 16 ohm and a 8 ohm speaker cab does not create a 4 ohm load exactly, (around 5.3 ohms). So yes the ZMACS can definitely allow you to mix and match speaker cabs easily and safely. Hope that helps. Cheers! Gil
I appreciate the response here. As a reminder i asked whether there would be an issue if i used 2 cabs in zmacs, one 16 ohm and one 8 ohm, at the same time. The answer was no.
Do i need to worry about ohms i select on my amp or is this really as convenient as i am thinking?
I pulled the trigger. I have a new one arriving in a few weeks. After 30+ years mismatches being dangerous im just covering my bases…
It is convenient as you are thinking. Simply set the ohm selector on the Amp In connection to match the ohms of the speaker output on your amplifier. The ZMACS then matches itself to the impedance of your speaker cabs which you set with the Cab Out impedance selectors on the ZMACS. I encourage you to read through the user manual. Cheers! Gil
