Who can I contact about a custom cab (or getting the tolex they use)?

I have a Sound City Master Lead 50 with a matching SC212 cab and a Fryette Power Station PS-2A. I want a custom cab that matches the look of the Master Lead 50 to house the Fryette… but I want to place it under the head. Basically I want a box the same width and depth (maybe a couple inches deeper) of the ML50 head with the same esthetics, and tall enough for 3U. I have a local cabinet maker that can make the box, but I wanted to find out if you have a preferred maker or if I can go through you. If not, maybe you can help me with a couple of parts, etc. Is this something you can do, or should I reach out to the local guy?

Your local guy is probably your best bet. We’re not set up to do one-offs.

The tolex is the same as used by Hiwatt and is available from a variety of suppliers.

I’d like to see that when it’s done.

When I had my builder look at the Sound City head, he took some measurements and asked why I couldn’t just get a replacement Sound City head cab, i.e., if I dropped the head cab and needed a replacement, would I be able to source one from Sound City?

Hi Christian,

I’m thinking you will be happier with the cost and utility of a 3-space rack case. As Dave said, we are not set up to do one-offs.

So the answer is no, you are not able to replace a Sound City head shell. Kinda reminds me of Fulltone’s “we don’t do customer requests” attitude before they went out of business.
