Hello,
I just got my GPDI/IR and I am trying to setup with my Mesa Boogie Mark V Combo and I believe I am missing something.
My signal path is: Guitar > GPDI/IR input > GPDI/IR from Amp FX Send > Mesa Boogie FX Send > Mesa Boogie FX Return > GPDI/IR To Amp FX Return. Ext Amp switch On. Mesa Boogie FX SW On. I get no Sound.
If I use the same signal above but then switch to Normal, Mesa Boogie FX On - then I get sound.
Am I missing something? It seems my External/Normal is working in reverse way.
Thanks!
Hi
Do you have a cable from the “To Amp Input” on the GPDI to your Mesa instrument input?
That is output 17 in the GPDI manual
The cables you currently have only shift the FX loop from the Mesa to the GPDI. The output 17 (in manual) sends your instrument signal to the Mesa, when you switch to External Amp. You seem to be missing that connection.
I am sorry, I read the manual several times and I missed that!
I just connected and I do hear sound now, but it’s like whatever I do on the GPDI/IR does not affect the sound of the amp at all.
Never mind - I guess I figured it out and it was damn loud. The Ext Amp when activated will send back to your external Amp and Normal will have the signal going to the GDPI/IR - It sounded amazing
GPDIIR is completely bypassed when you switch to the external amp, except the fx loop
