Compressor pedal reacting differently

Hi,

The power station is really great, the effect loop work so well for reverb and delay compared to running it in front of the amp.

However, I’ve found that when I use my compressor pedal (JHS orange squeeze) in front of the amp, it reacts differently and sound different when I use the power station or not.

I would go as far as saying that I can’t use it when the power station is involved.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Cheers

Hello, When it comes to dynamics effects like a compressor, the way they interact with the guitar amplifier and the feel the player experiences is very much dependent on the settings of the amplifier itself, and in this case the Power Station as well. Assuming that you are using the Power Station to allow the guitar amp to be cranked up to a high output/gain level, then the feel and response of the compressor will be significantly affected just as it would if you were to run the amp at a very low output/gain level. This is all normal and to be expected but I understand your concern as it probably seems surprising at first. Try leaving the amp and compressor settings as you have them, then bypass the Power Station to see if the compressor still reacts differently compared to the same settings with the Power Station in Operate mode. It may take some readjusting of the compressor’s controls to find the proper feel and response that you are wanting. Cheers! Gil

Thank you I will check if I can find a way around it as you describe

I’d like to add to this thread as I discovered the real issue and it may help someone.

I had so many pedals on my board using several power supplies and feeding one acoustic and one electric rig.

The cables were not lined up straight, including power cables, this caused loads of interference and since I separated the boards into separate acoustic and electric I no longer have issues.
