How can I have the xlr output NOT clip my audio interface? Is the guitar amp’s volume the only control on the PS2?
Hello Saar,
First select the level control on the input; you should notice a volume drop if you select the HI setting. High-power amp? Select HI.
Did you try the line-out volume control on the bottom right of the rear panel? Actually, this only affect the unbalanced output…
If you have too much signal from the balanced XLR jack, then this is a problem at the receiving end. Make sure you are going into a LINE LEVEL input; instrument and mic level have too much gain and will lead to the situation you describe.
Thanks. I don’t have the ps2A. The ps2 doesn’t have a line level adjustment. For some reason, the xlr out has a hotter signal then the line out jack.
Hi Saar,
OK, please investigate settings on your audio interface and report back.
It’s a Focusrite 18i20. If I use the xlr out on the ps2, I need to turn the input nob all the way down, and push ON the PAD button. My Splawn Quickrod 100 head has control over how much signal gets to the interface. I’m just wondering if there is a way to be able to turn up the amp more. It doesn’t seem so. It’s not a big deal. I can use the line out of the ps2 and keep the amp turned down more.
If you are using the XLR inputs on the front, then the Scarlett 18i20 seems to assume they are microphone level inputs; hence, it will apply a stupid amount of gain. Connect using a XLR to TRS cable or connect to the line level inputs on the back.
Thank you! I was just researching this too. I will give it a go when I am at my studio later. It’s great to know you are on board. Thanks again.
Do post studio porn; we are fans of that always good to see Fryette gear in the wild too.
Heck yea. It’s interesting to see other’s gear.
