Attenuation loop questions

Ive just added the PS-2 to my ZMACS setup but only want to use it with one of the cabinets connected.

When I run the PS-2 through the the switched attenuation loop, the loop switch on the ZMACS does not take the attenuator in/out of the signal. Is this normal?

Ultimately id like to only use the PS-2/attenuation loop when cabinet 4 is active and completely bypass the loop when using cabinet 1. I understand I could just use the operate/bypass switch while using cabinet 1, but it seems pointless to leave the PS-2 running when not in use.

Is it ok to use the ZMACS while the PS-2 is completely powered off but still plugged into the attenuation loop?

What would be the most efficient way to setup the ZMACS to use the attenuation loop when cabinet 4 is on and bypass the loop when cabinet 1 is on?

@ToneMountain welcome to the forum,

As far as I can tell, this sounds correct.

The SEND of the SWITCHED ATTENUATOR LOOP is fed directly from the AMP MATRIX (when not using the NORMAL ATTENUATOR LOOP), and the RETURN will connect to the CAB MATRIX.

Then the LOOP button activates the switched attenuator loop.

Let’s try a few things:

  • Make sure you are using SPRK OUT ONE and not TWO on the back of the PS-2A
  • Does your PS-2A enter OPERATE when used alone? If for some reason it is stuck in BYPASS, then you will not get attenuation.
  • For debugging, try moving the PS-2A to the always-on NORMAL ATTENUATOR LOOP. Do you get attenuation now?

If you are using a low-power amp and have good ventilation, then yes. You can use the PS-2A and PS-100 completely off.

Store those settings as MIDI patches and use a MIDI footswtich (or controller) to recall them.

The PS-2A is working fine in both loops. The operate/bypass switch works the same in either loop. My issue is when in the switched loop, the LOOP button does not toggle the attenuation on/off.

OK this could be a bad relay – you don’t hear any relay clicking on/off when pressing the LOOP button.

I will PM you about RMA options…
